For those of us who spend time on the web over the weekends, consider using at least some of your time to grow in your knowledge of God’s Word and His world. Here’s a brief, curated list of videos and articles that I found helpful this past week. Enjoy!
Terrorists kill 33, torch churches after Nigeria Baptist school kidnappings
Be praying for your Baptist brothers and sisters in Nigeria. After a mass kidnapping of 120 children, four churches have been burned and 33 Christians have been killed. May we not neglect our responsibility to pray for the persecuted church!
Faith Won’t Survive Without Friends
Pastor John Piper explains why we cannot and will not endure in our faith without friends. The Christian life will not, indeed it cannot, be lived faithfully in isolation.
On the same topic, Randy Alcorn challenges us to choose our friends wisely. If you want to endure you don’t need just any sort of friends. You need those who love you truly by loving Jesus more than they love you. What better place to find people like that than your own local church?
Christians Need More Intergenerational Friendships
I did not originally plan for this theme, but article after article this week kept drawing me back to this theme of friendships. This one from Joe Carter at The Gospel Coalition stresses the importance of intergenerational friendships, “a friendship between an older and younger adult in which the age difference is 15 years or more.” I am so grateful for the many relationships like this I have in our church! Whether you’re young or old, I hope you’re building these type of friendships.
