Hopson Boutot

Hopson is married to Holly. They have five children: Jonah, Zoë, Phoebe, Ella and Zeke. They live in Poquoson. After earning his Ph.D. in Louisville KY, Hopson was called to Poquoson Baptist to serve as lead Pastor by unanimous vote in August of 2016.

What is your vision in ministry?: To teach, lead, and serve the people of Poquoson Baptist Church to mature and multiply for God's glory and their good. 

How long have you been at P.B.C.?: My family and I arrived here in the middle of August 2016

In your career(s) outside of ministry, how did God prepare you for ministry? I’ve had a number of jobs before and during my time in vocational ministry. Delivering newspapers taught me the value of discipline and deliberate planning. Working in the restaurant industry taught me the importance of being attentive to people’s needs. A few different management positions for small businesses taught me a lot about leadership.

One thing most people don't know about you: If I told you everyone would know it. :) 

A few of your favorite things: Good coffee, comic books and comic book films (especially Batman!), THE Ohio State Buckeyes, the month of October, reading (especially theology and church history), listening to music, preaching and teaching God’s Word, spending time with my rambunctious kids, date nights with Holly, and following Jesus.
